Siris Sharpe

Dominic Sharpe was an archeologist and historian. He devoted his life to researching and exploring ancient cultures including Roman, Greece, Egyptian, Mayan, Aztec and Incan. He never married, but had one child with a fellow researcher. He named the child Osiris Dagon after the Egyptian God of the Underworld and Philistines god of fertility and crops.

Due to their life styles, Osiris' mother spent a great deal of time away from her son. Dominic raised Osiris on the road, living in various countries, mostly in unpopulated areas. The boy was home schooled and brought up in a very noninterventionist fashion. Dominic believed in letting a child roam free and not confining him to social rules. His father and he lived in tents and sometimes even in temples or ruins while doing research. Dominic sold articles to periodicals and journals which proved rather profitable.

In addition to his father's training and life experience, Osiris took six years out of traveling to obtain a Masters Degree in Anthropology at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. He rejoined his father on the road after graduating. His graduation was the last time he ever saw his mother. She died of malaria when he was twenty-two. Ten years later, his father died of natural causes.

Even after his father's death, he continued his father's work. He had met enough people in nearly ever corner of the world to have no need for a home or traditional material items such as cars or the like. Over the years, he's lived among tribes, other researchers and welcoming natives. He speaks and writes well in several languages and became well known in conspiracy theory circles as a leading expert of the Mayan Calendar.

As 2012 approached, Siris found his `specialty' area of knowledge in high demand. He'd been invited to colleges, conventions and even churches to speak. He only accepted those that were willing to pay for travel and a hotel room, but never took any more than that. Some people believed in the prophecy that the world would come to end in December of 2012 and others dismissed it as hocus pocus. He received mail from curious scholars, rabid fans, hate mail and death threats from everyone under the sun – it seemed like everyone had an opinion. Osiris had no real opinion… either it would happen or it wouldn't. He was at peace with that. With all things in his life, he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.

The Mayan calendar ended in December 2012, but it was a calendar of cycles… therefore, it was quite possible this was just the start of another cycle. Unfortunately, as the date finally came, the answer didn't become any clearer. He was speaking at the University of Tennessee the day it began. On one hand it was fulfilling to know his work was not wasted and yet, as massive amounts of people died in earthquakes, floods, wild fires and other disasters, he began to wonder if he should have done more to warn the masses.

He survived the aftermath – the disease, the looting, the territorial wars – and got the hell out of Knoxville. He grabbed a tent and a few supplies from a Salvation Army store and made his way out into the wilderness where he was most at peace.
